Bat house: the ideal shelter for bats
The new bat Houses from are small lodges especially designed to welcome bats; if properly installed, they attract bats who will be living there for about the entire period April - October. These small animals are human friendly: they eat huge amounts of harmful insects, including annoying mosquitoes.
These shelters, usually called bat boxes, are made from from multi layered birch wood, are odourless, free from harmful glues and dyes. They must be placed on external walls of your house or to be hung on a tree, at an ideal height of about 4 meters.
It is recommended to select warm places not exposed to wind, not to much in shade and warmed up by morning and midday sun. Also it si suggested to Avoid positioning the house among dense groups of trees or hedges. Ideal places are those close to the edge of paths, glades, shores and parks.
